Final report from the project ”Mapping of nutrient emissions into the Baltic Sea from shipping”

Overall, the shipping and cruise industry in the Baltic Sea is extensive, which affects the ocean through nutrient emissions. At the beginning of the year, the project “Mapping of nutrient emissions into the Baltic Sea from shipping” started under the leadership of PhD student Magda Wilewska Bien, Professor Lena Granhag and Professor Karin Andersson at Chalmers University of Technology.

The aim of the project was to map the shipping´s contribution to nutritional load in the Baltic Sea, which emissions that contain nutrients and how they are linked to different types of vessels. The project has also compiled the regulations and solutions available to reduce nutrient supply and what measures are expected to be most effective in reducing the contribution from the different sources. At the end of June, the project was completed and now you can read the final report. You can find the report here (only in Swedish).
